Ram 2500 & 3500 Big Brake Upgrade Guide: B8-Barbarian Options

Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks are built to work, but towing, hauling, larger tires and modified builds can put additional demand on the braking system. For supported applications, the SSBC-USA B8-Barbarian line provides a direct path to an 8-piston billet aluminum caliper upgrade.

Current Ram B8-Barbarian fitment structure

SSBC-USA's current catalog groups the front B8-Barbarian applications across supported 2009–2026 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks. Rear fitment is split into two groups: 2009–2018 and 2019–2026. Selected 4-wheel packages follow that same rear-year split.

Why the rear year split matters

A 2009–2018 rear kit is not the same catalog application as a 2019–2026 rear kit. If you're building a complete front-and-rear system, the correct 4-wheel package also depends on which side of that model-year change your truck falls on. Confirm the exact vehicle before ordering rather than assuming all Ram 2500/3500 brakes are interchangeable.

What the B8-Barbarian upgrade is built around

B8-Barbarian applications use SSBC-USA billet aluminum 8-piston calipers machined and assembled in Elma, New York. Depending on the specific application, the catalog includes front and rear caliper upgrade kits, rotor-equipped disc brake kits and selected 4-wheel packages. Other kit components vary by application.

Match the brake system to how you use the truck

For a truck that regularly tows, hauls, runs larger tires or sees repeated heavy braking, a brake upgrade can be part of building a more capable overall braking system. It does not increase the truck's tow rating and it does not replace proper maintenance, trailer brakes or a correctly configured trailer brake controller.

Great solution for escalade brakes!

So far so good. 2020 Cadillac Escalade ESV 6.2L 4WD. I'm still putting the first 100 miles on the new front brakes. Incredibly responsive coupled with stainless steel braided brakelines. Overall install took less than 1 hour with cleaning and torquing all fasteners and flushing and bleeding the front brakes. I will buy the rear brakes next.

Fit OEM bracket with no adjustment

Fit OEM bracket with no adjustment. Definitely stronger and smoother than the two piston original. Large fluid void in the caliper needs extra time and fluid to bleed but has top and bottom bleed options. I like the look of the new caliper through the wheel

Everything worked out after modifying the ebrake cable. It's worked out fantastic and wish I had done the conversion sooner!

I'm hoping to edit this review soon. Delivery was pretty good only a day later than expected. Everything seemed to fit fine although the brake lines needed to be modified. The only standing issue right now is the ebrake cable is apparently too short, so it's not ready for the road yet. I'm considering options before road test. Again, I hope to edit this soon and make it a five star across the board.

Did a complete manual brake to power assisted disc brakes

Did a complete manual brake to power assisted disc brakes. Was very difficult finding the correct otems to fit a 1971 Duster but Chris and others were great to work with and we finally got everything correct. I appreciate their patience as we worked through rebuilding an old car. The entier team (tech and Chris) were great.
