Stainless Braided Brake Lines: Benefits, Fitment and Replacement

Braided stainless steel brake lines usually refer to flexible brake hoses with a protective stainless braid. They connect rigid chassis brake lines to components that move with steering or suspension.

Braided Hose vs. Hard Brake Line

A braided flexible hose is not the same as pre-bent rigid brake tubing. Flexible hoses must accommodate wheel, steering and suspension movement without stretching, rubbing or kinking.

Potential Benefits

A quality braided hose can provide a protected flexible connection and may reduce hose expansion compared with an aged rubber hose. It cannot correct air in the system, worn components or incorrect brake balance.

Mounting tabs and retaining clips

Safe routing through full steering and suspension travel

Modified Vehicles Need Extra Care

Brake swaps, axle changes, lifted suspension and aftermarket calipers can alter hose requirements. Select hoses for the components actually installed, not only the vehicle's original model year.

Example Mustang Application

SSBC-USA part number 14328 is a pair of braided stainless flex hoses for compatible 1987–1992 Ford Mustang applications. It is not universal for every Fox Body brake combination.

Great solution for escalade brakes!

So far so good. 2020 Cadillac Escalade ESV 6.2L 4WD. I'm still putting the first 100 miles on the new front brakes. Incredibly responsive coupled with stainless steel braided brakelines. Overall install took less than 1 hour with cleaning and torquing all fasteners and flushing and bleeding the front brakes. I will buy the rear brakes next.

Fit OEM bracket with no adjustment

Fit OEM bracket with no adjustment. Definitely stronger and smoother than the two piston original. Large fluid void in the caliper needs extra time and fluid to bleed but has top and bottom bleed options. I like the look of the new caliper through the wheel

Everything worked out after modifying the ebrake cable. It's worked out fantastic and wish I had done the conversion sooner!

I'm hoping to edit this review soon. Delivery was pretty good only a day later than expected. Everything seemed to fit fine although the brake lines needed to be modified. The only standing issue right now is the ebrake cable is apparently too short, so it's not ready for the road yet. I'm considering options before road test. Again, I hope to edit this soon and make it a five star across the board.

Did a complete manual brake to power assisted disc brakes

Did a complete manual brake to power assisted disc brakes. Was very difficult finding the correct otems to fit a 1971 Duster but Chris and others were great to work with and we finally got everything correct. I appreciate their patience as we worked through rebuilding an old car. The entier team (tech and Chris) were great.
